Jason Yau is a member of McGladrey’s global expat team and is based in Hong Kong. The expat program, launched in 2010, assists in delivering the McGladrey client experience globally by improving cross-border communications, execution of global engagements, and building trust and working relationships throughout the world. In this role he supports the firm’s internationally active clients as a member of the global engagement team, coordinating and executing on US standards audit engagements across Asia. Jason also supports our Asia Pacific member firms with US GAAP, PCAOB and SEC expertise needed for clients that report under US standards and access US capital markets.
Jason brings over 13 years of experience in finance and 11 years in public accounting. His industry focuses include SEC registrants, private equity groups, financial services, manufacturing and technology. Some of Jason’s global clients include CITIC Securities, SANY Group, AT Cross, Kingston Technology, Colson Global, Olympus Capital, and American Securities. Jason is responsible for overseeing the relationship, execution and quality of McGladrey’s engagements at the regional level. With his understanding of the local culture, language and market regulations, Jason strives to provide valuable advice to his clients and deliver McGladrey’s brand promise—the Power of Being Understood.
Jason’s leadership roles included peer leader for directors, national trainer, and career advisor at McGladrey. He was also the leader of the campus recruiting team for the New York office.
Prior to joining McGladrey, Jason was a regulator with the New York Mercantile Exchange, primarily conducting financial and compliance audits on key registered member firms including JP Morgan, Barclays Capital, and BNP Paribas. Jason also was a former employee of Citigroup Smith Barney.
Jason is a CPA in both Hong Kong and the United States. He holds a MS in Global Finance from HKUST and NYU Stern , and a BBA from Pace University.
