Global Finance Seminar Series: Capture the rising power of China’s individual investors by Prof Mark Seasholes

China’s financial muscle has an increasing impact on global markets. Fund managers are keen to participate in the mainland’s investor boom.

Recognising this, the latest event in the popular HKUST-NYU Stern Global Finance Seminar Series examined behaviour that now drives individual investment decisions in China.

Keynote speaker Professor Mark S. Seasholes, one of the Academic Directors of HKUST-NYU Stern Master of Science in Global Finance Program (MSGF), an expert in behavioural finance, explored:

  • the preferences and biases of Chinese investors
  • the effect of Chinese investors on local stock markets
  • the opportunities these biases may present
  • the contrasts between Chinese investor behaviour and that of investors in other parts of the world
