Right after the closing session for the first intake, the opening session for the second intake followed.
We had two special MCs for the Opening Ceremony & Dinner for Class 2009 – Maya Lin and Alex Pei. Maya and Alex were from Class 2008 and besides being MCs, they also brought along the blessings from the previous class and also shared a bit of their feelings, happy to complete the program successfully and yet sad that the program has come to an end.
Besides students, we had guests from professional financial associations, namely Thomas Reuters, ACI, TMA, PRMIA, HKIB, CFA and Dow Jones to join the dinner. After the greetings from our Senior Associate Dean of the HKUST Business School, a speech by Prof Ingo Walter, Vice Dean of NYU Stern followed.
Class 2009 contains 32 students with about half of the students living in Hong Kong and half coming from Mainland China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan, Singapore, Mongolia and USA. The average age and working experience are similar to the previous class, 32 and 9 respectively.
For this year, we have students coming from different finance functions, such as private banking, research, regulatory, investment, trading, etc. And like last year, we have a multi-national class with Mainland Chinese, Taiwanese, Filipino, Mongolian, Vietnamese, Indian, Singaporean, Japanese, etc.
