Opening Ceremony for Class 2010
The opening session for the third intake immediately followed the closing session of the second intake.
For this important occasion we had Yen Lu and KK (students of Class 2008-2009) as Masters of Ceremony. They shared with us their valuable experience in the last 12 months plus also gave our rookies some head-ups for the journey they had decided to make.
Welcome messages were given by HKUST Dean Leonard Cheng as well as NYU Stern Dean Thomas Cooley.
Prof Kalok Chan shared with all present the profile for Class 2009-2010. We have a record 47 students this year even under the present economic climate. They are currently working for companies like Banco Santander, Barclays Capital Asia, Bloomberg, CCM Airlines, Commerzbank AG, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Ernst & Young, Hang Seng Bank, HSBC Private Bank, Jones Lang LaSalle, McCann Worldgroup, Merrill Lynch, Moody’s, The Royal Bank of Scotland, Samil Pricewaterhousecoopers, Standard & Poor's, UBS, etc at locations include France, Hong Kong, Korea, Mainland China, Nepal, Singapore, Taiwan, USA and UK. Their nationalities are American, Australian, Brazilian, British, Canadian, Chinese, French, German, Indian, Korean, Malaysian, Norwegian, Pakistani, Saudi Arabian, Singaporean, South African, Spanish, Taiwanese and Ugandan, presumably the most diverse so far.
19% of Class 2009 are Managers, 17% are Directors, 15% are VPs, 9% are Chief Officers while 6% are Division or Department Heads.
